Greetings, general!
The AI Challenge-subchannel is now back online!
If you are already familiar with the concept, you may skip over the description.
[Description]
The AI Challenge is a centrally managed training program, equally suited for
both experienced combat veterans and green recruits.
It features exciting training missions in varying difficulties, dynamically
designed by successful competitors.
All those challenges can be simulated and accomplished on the participants
local mainframe (prerequisite is a working installation of the ShockwaveTM-
real-time combat simulator, version .951). No additional peripheral devices,
nor network access, are needed.
After the successful completion of one of the available scenarios, the
participant is encouraged to save a record of the simulation and to make it
available on this transmission channel, in order to brag with his achievements.
The general which completes one of the challenges first, has the possibility to
design a new challenge with the same difficulty, and to broadcast it on this
channel.
[Rules]
- All the challenges take place in one of the maps which are available
BY DEFAULT as skirmish- scenarios for the ShockwaveTM combat simulator. - All challenges MUST be playable locally (without network access), against
opponents with artificial intelligence. - Challenges come in 3 (three) different difficulties: Hard, medium, easy.
Accomplishing one of the challenges (not your own) first and broadcasting a
record will grant you the right to design a new challenge of the respective
difficulty. Not broadcasting a new challenge within 2 (two) days, or yielding
the right to do so, will allow all any other general to provide a new one. - Whoever designs a challenge may establish an arbitrary set of rules, e.g.
limit the number/kinds of available units, limit the set of allowed factions,
pose general victory- conditions (like the capture of a certain building), ...
in order to make the challenge more ...interesting. - If a challenge remains unbeaten for more than one week, ANYONE may replace
it with a new one.
[Notes]
- Because of an unfixed glitch in the simulation software, the participant has
to play the challenge as "MULTIPLAYER -> NETWORK"- simulation, whilst only
playing locally versus the AI. Otherwise the record of the simulation may
get corrupted. Be advised: There is no way to save your progress during such a
simulation! (which is intentional) - Please keep this transmission channel as free as possible of offtopic-
comments and the like!
The first set of challenges will be transmitted shortly, on this channel.
Good luck general!
